Workshops
"If even half of America's 67 million Catholics fully embraced the application of church teaching to the question of the death penalty, there would be no executions in the United States. The Catholic Mobilizing Network's purpose is to facilitate that outcome." Karen Clifton, CMN Director
The following workshops are to be conducted in Parishes, Classrooms, Youth Groups, or with any group wishing to explore their faith and the death penalty:
Workshop AThis Work Shop is for Catholics interested in learning more about the death penalty, the Church's teaching in the matter, practical and moral questions posed by the capital-punishment debate, and opportunities for involvement in repeal efforts. |
Workshop B
This three-hour interactive workshop is for Catholics and others who are committed to, or are contemplating involvement in death penalty repeal efforts. In addition to the material presented in Workshop A, it focuses on effective planning, organizing and advocacy techniques; coalition building; legislative strategies; and "making the case" to policymakers and the media.
Workshop C
A one-hour workshop that is an adaptation of Workshop B. It can be used as a resource for facilitators of Workshop A.
Workshop in Spanish
Vicki Shieber and other members of CMN's staff are available to train facilitators to conduct the workshop. Please call 202-232-2881, or 301-865-6382 with questions or to schedule.
